The Relativity of the Pivot
Stability is not the same as stillness
Recalibration™ does not conclude from this that observing the forward gaze or the feet has therapeutic effects.
Nor does it define stability as fixing the body into a single shape.
Rather, within a body that naturally contains small fluctuations, it encourages quietly confirming where you are looking now,
and how you feel the contact of your feet or the chair.
This is placed as one perspective for thinking about stability.
A pivot that appears still is moving in a larger frame
“Seeing the pivot in front of you.”
A physical pendulum has a pivot suspended from the ceiling. Relative to the building, that pivot appears almost stationary.
However, the building rests on the Earth’s surface, the Earth rotates, and the Earth revolves around the Sun.
Thus, whether a pivot is “moving” or “still” depends on the frame of reference.
But what matters here is not that nothing can be fixed.
Relative to the room, a point on the wall is stable enough to serve as a reference for short observation.
The floor beneath your feet is the place currently supporting your body.
It uses a relatively stable point—a point at eye level where you can place your gaze naturally in the place you are now.
Being aware of a reference is different from denying it
Medical examination, testing, and diagnosis rely on shared knowledge and objective evidence.
In emergencies, medical judgment must take priority over subjective sensation.
Recalibration™ does not deny these standards.
What is borrowed here is the idea:
Pay attention not only to the object you see, but also to the position and reference from which you are seeing.
Being aware of a reference is different from rejecting the reference itself.
What “present location of the body” means
Nor does it refer to a universal coordinate of “correct posture.”
It means quietly confirming, without rushing to judgment:
• Where your gaze is directed now
• How you feel the contact of your soles, heels, or the chair
• How you sense left–right differences
• Whether you feel any difference
• Or whether you feel nothing in particular
Our bodies are supported by the floor or chair under gravity.
The contact of the soles or seat is one cue for attending to how your body feels supported at this moment.
There is no need to force posture or make both sides match.
Not searching for an absolute external point
There is no need to stop all movement.
Nor is there a need to search for an absolutely unmoving point in the universe.
• Place your gaze naturally on a relatively stable point in front of you
• Attend briefly to the contact of your feet or the chair
• Quietly confirm how you feel your body now, without rushing to conclusions
This is the meaning of the Recalibration™ metaphor:
“Seeing the pivot in front of you.”
It is a provisional marker for returning to your present bodily sensation.
Note: Physical Supplement
The Earth’s average orbital speed is approximately 107,000 km/h.
These values illustrate that a pivot appearing stationary in one frame is moving in a larger frame.
They are not values describing bodily sway, normal posture ranges, or the duration or effects of Recalibration™ observations.
